Jon Vickers-Jones is a professional storyteller, scenic designer, director, and creativity instructor from Britain. He has acted and directed in community theater and summer stock, told stories and held workshops in schools, clubs, organizations, and festivals in the Mid-Atlantic states and in southern England.

Vickers-Jones has directed several plays, most recently The Cemetery Club by Ivan Menchel and the musical Ruthless by Marvin Laird, for The Tyrone Community Players; The Magic Cupcake by Jon Vickers-Jones and Dinner at Castle Dread by Jon Vickers-Jones and Richard Nathan for the State College Community Theater; Separate Tables by Terence Rattigan and On Approval by Frederick Lonsdale in the United Kingdom, and was assistant director and scenic designer for Born Yesterday by Garson Kanin, at the Capitol Theater in Chambersburg.
Vickers-Jones created the drama department at the Cumberland Valley School of Music in Chambersburg, Pennsylvania and was the primary teacher for the first three years of the program.
He has written and directed children’s plays and assisted students in learning acting techniques, making costumes, and designing and building stage sets for plays.
Vickers-Jones has told stories for the Chambersburg Arts Festival, Arts Express, and the Chambersburg Area Council for the Arts.
He was the summer camp director at the Totem Pole Playhouse Theatre, for 35 children every two weeks.
He was camp director, set designer and costumer for the Caledonia Theater Company’s summer camps.
Vickers-Jones has performed with the Chambersburg String Quartet and The Russian Ballet Company in Warren, Pa.
He was a guest storyteller at the St. Neots Folk Festival in Cambridgeshire, England.
He recently designed a new theater venue for the TCP in Tyrone, Pa.
Jon has written two plays for children; Queen Moya and the Magic Cupcake and Dinner at Castle Dread. He has also written a book of short stories; My Sock the Gypsy and published a book of his poetry; Collected Poems of Jon Vickers-Jones, His latest poetry book is 76 Poems by JVJ. He has also written a book of ghostly tales, Curious Tales and children’s short stories in, 81/2 in Winter and just recently he self published Hampstead Wars, a children’s history book about the demises of London since the attack on that city by Boadicea in the year 61.
I use many different mediums, such as clay, acrylics, and pastels. I believe that working in a single medium is restrictive to my artistic process. Each idea manifests in its own individual style. I love to create art from recycled trash.
I love working on Theater sets. I design and build sets for all the theater groups in my area. My favorite show sets were Hello Dolly, Streetcar Named Desire and All my Bald Eagle designs.
